Sarah Milston, CFRE, MPA

Lead Strategy Consultant

Sarah brings a focus on strategy using creativity means as a primary vehicle for her work. Sarah partners with TMI to provide clients with strategy guidance resulting in action plans and solid work plans, to help achieve articulated goals. An expert facilitator, Sarah works with a wide range of clients to help groups map out visions for the future and actionable plans to attain them.

A lifelong commitment to inclusivity stems from activism that began in high school. I devote my resources and volunteering to organizations working to make my home a more inclusive place.. I suppose that emanates from the belief that where you spend your resources and time, both personally and professionally, speaks to your values. I am motivated primarily by doing good in the world and leaving it better than I found it.

Sarah received her BA from Mary Baldwin College and her MPA with a focus on Nonprofit Management from Virginia Commonwealth University.  Spending the first decade of her career in nonprofit management has helped to provide experience she now draws from as a consultant.  Sarah now works with a diverse group of nonprofits, associations, and businesses with services including strategic planning, marketing and fundraising, organizational development, and board development. Sarah has been a featured speaker across the mid- Atlantic region focusing on tactics and the strategy necessary to help people get from here to there.

Whether it’s facilitating a staff or board retreat, developing a strategic plan, or monthly sit-downs with staff, Sarah has had her hands (or brain) in various stages of development, planning, fundraising, and marketing for many of the organizations doing good in and around Virginia for years.  Making Richmond a more inclusive and all around better community for everyone is an integral part of who Sarah is and how she chooses to operate her business.

Personally, she spends her free time raising good humans as a parent, playing in the dirt and growing good stuff in her garden, and exploring local farmer’s markets…on the occasion that there is a free couple of days on the calendar, she loves a good Airbnb!
